To visit: Paganella Plateau
The lake Nestled along the borders of the Dolomitic high plateaus of Andalo, Molveno and Fai della Paganella, Molveno Lake is the second largest lake, in terms of length and depth, amongst those in the Trentino region. This body of water, with its incredible variety of colors, measures 4.5 km in length and 1.5 km in width, and at its deepest point reaches a depth of 124 meters. What strikes visitors at first sight is the clarity of Molveno Lake’s water, which reflects the summit of Brenta and the slopes of Paganella. Extraordinary transformations in chromatic shades of blue and green trick one into confusing the lake’s water with its banks, almost as if the maple, cornel, hazel and birch trees dive into the lake to cover its shore. The richness of the fauna of Molveno Lake, a natural habitat for perch, trout, and char, is proof of the care that the inhabitants of this high plateau have taken to defend this ecosystem throughout the centuries.
The parkThe Adamello-Brenta Park, situated in the western part of the Trentino region, has a surface area of 618 square kilometers. It includes two large areas separated from each other by a furrow of the Val Rendena: a large part of the Adamello-Presanella Mountain Range is found to the west, while the entire Brenta Mountain Rangeis found to the east. Impressive peaks that rise 3000 meters above sea level belong to the granitic mountain range of the Adamello-Presanella. Impetuous streams of water flowing downhill to form majestic cascades gush from the extensive glaciers that cover these peaks.
