Winter sports in the Fassa valley

The complete range of winter activities can be offered in the Fassa Valley. Beginning with alpine skiing, a sport that here finds its best expression also thanks to its nine suggestive skiing areas. Their modern and up-to-date plants assure you a rapid and efficient service.
With about 200 km of ski-slopes, the skiing resort of the Fassa Valley is one of the newest ones in all the Dolomite area: short waiting times, up-to-date ascent plants and, most of all, a planned snow-covering control system assure the best skiing results from the very beginning of winter-time. The possibility of daily changing your skiing area is perhaps what distinguishes the Fassa Valley as one of the Capital Cities for international skiing and the heart of the big “merry-go-round” of the Dolomiti Superski.

Skiing

In the skiing areas “Belvedere/Passo Pordoi”, “Ciampac”, “Fedaia/Marmolada”, “Col Rodella” and “Passo Sella”, “Buffaure” and “Aloch” with the new Ski Stadium, “Catinaccio” “Ciampedìe” and “Carezza”, “Alpe Lusia”, “San Pellegrino Pass” and the connection with the “Tre Valli” skiers will find an answer to every personal wish:
fabulous ski-slopes are plunged into the breathless scenery of the most known mountains of the world, and give you the possibility of launching out into a rapid ski-descent, of experimenting the unforeseeable trajectories of carving style, of discovering the emotions given by your snowboard or the antique taste of the Telemark style. For the indefatigable skiers there is also the possibility of skiing during the night in the wonderful Skistadium “Aloch” in Pozza di Fassa: the emotion of a ski-run in the moonlight shadow.

These are the variants to alpine skiing that here, on the skiing areas of the Fassa Valley, will find their best expression. Here, about 230 ski teachers are ready to reveal you all the secrets of the “Snow Planet”.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country ski lovers will profit instead of more than 70 km of runs in the different villages of the valley.
The track of the “Marcialonga” is particularly interesting: starting from Moena it touches all the towns situated on the axis of the Avisio torrent and passes through many woods and meadows of the valley. Furthermore, every town disposes of rings of different difficulty-levels. Near the skiing areas you will also find the enchanting Alochet centre, near the “San Pellegrino” Pass; the “Ciampac” ring in Alba di Canazei and at the “Passo di Costalunga”, above Vigo. The rings of Pozza and Fontanazzo are enlightened and are opened until 11 P.M. to be surrounded by the silent of the night: a suggestive way to spend the evening

Alpinism skiing

To whoever would like to try some less known but absolutely fascinating sport activities on the snow, will not miss the emotion of the alpinism-skiing: thousands of ways to run along with the help of sealskins. You will climb up on the top of a mountain and enjoy a breathless panoramic view: all thanks to this peculiar sport enabling a privileged contact with the mountain, in silence and without any confusion.

Walking

A less tiring but as much suggestive activity is the walk with snow-shoes: a nice and original way to adventure along the meadows and the woods of the Fassa Valley, totally plunged into a marvellous landscape and in deep contact with nature.
For people preferring more simple proposals, the innumerable walks in the valley, both in winter and in summer, offer some hours of absolute relax: listening to the sounds of nature or to the foot-steps on the snow.

Ice skating

Naturally, for more quite activities there are also various ice-skating rinks in the valley or the Ice stadium in Alba di Canazei...just to spend some pleasant hours on the ice or assisting to some exciting hockey matches. The winter sporting offer in the Fassa Valley has not reached its final point: squash, indoor climbing practise opportunities, fitness centres and a swimming pool are always at your disposal for recovering a perfect form during the holiday time.

Fassa Valley in winter has not only the meaning of practising sports: the après-ski represents a continuous discovery thanks to plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, typical meeting places, pubs and discos. All these places contribute to enrich the lively nights of the valley.
The Fassa Valley by night covers itself with thousands of lights, colours...and life! It is not difficult to find out the most suitable place for one’s personal needs: from the quiet restaurant where you can taste the typical dishes of the local gastronomic tradition, to the disco, where you can dance till the morning. Then something you really have to try, is the emotion of a night descent on a sleigh after a nice evening in one of the alpine refuges of the lateral valleys: a particular way of spending some hours with your friends. These are only some of the uncountable proposals that contribute to make of the Fassa Valley a real paradise for your winter holidays.
