La conca di Cortina d'Ampezzo è sicuramente una delle più note di tutte le Dolomiti.
Attorno al frequentato centro turistico si innalzano famosi gruppi montuosi quali le Tofane, il Sorapiss, il Cristallo e la Croda Rossa, montagne celebri per le difficoltose vie alpinistiche e per le lunghe piste di sci alpino.
Sulle montagne di Cortina, però, è altrettanto bello e facile muoversi in mountain bike. Ciò è dovuto all'esistenza di una rete di stradelle ex militari e facili mulattiere segnalate che consentono di raggiungere anche i luoghi più impervi e, a prima vista, di più difficile accesso.

Berge, die hochgerühmt werden aufgrund Ihrer zahlreichen, schwierigen Aufstiege und der langen Skipisten.
Auf den Bergen Cortinas ist es jedoch ebenso schön und leicht, sich mit dem Mountainbike fortzubewegen. Das Straßennetz existiert dank ehemaliger Militärstraßen oder Saumpfaden und man erreicht über diese einfachen Wege selbst im ersten Moment unerreichbar erscheinende Plätze.
